Original painting: a single unique work in oil, acrylic, watercolor or pastel. Ask for the artist's signature, date and a receipt naming the piece.
Limited-edition print: a reproduction with a fixed number of copies, usually numbered (for example 12/100) and signed. The smaller the edition, the more it typically holds value.
Open-edition print or wall art: reproduced without a limit. It's often good décor and the least expensive option, but not a collectible.
Photograph: a camera image printed on paper, metal or canvas. Ask about the print process and whether it's editioned.
Vintage resale: old postcards and souvenir prints of the tower turn up on resale sites. Check condition and whether the "vintage" item is actually a modern reprint.
Measure the wall and plan for the frame to add 2–4 inches per side with a mat. Works on paper need UV-filtering glazing in Florida light. Originals on canvas can hang unframed if the edges are painted. Ask the seller whether shipping is insured, how the work is packed, and whether framing is included in the price.
Many people buy after a visit. See Lake Wales art for current garden exhibitions and galleries, and the Lake Wales city record for the town's history.
